IT Architect (Network & Cloud)

*This will be a remote role based out of the Banfield Pet Hospital Headquarters in Vancouver, WA.*

Summary and Qualifications:

Provide architectural and detailed technical direction for Banfield’s hospital and hybrid cloud communications infrastructure.

Ensure technical solutions successfully meet Banfield’s strategic objectives while delivering value today.

Facilitate collaboration and orchestration of efforts between Banfield, Mars Veterinary Health (MVH), and managed service providers through defining intent and roadmaps, guiding technical solutions within the domain, and driving alignment across teams.

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
  • Consult and provide oversight for the building, deployment, and migration of applications to the hybrid cloud.
  • Actively participate in Infrastructure technical leadership meetings and collaborate across the enterprise.
  • Partner with Information Security to develop strategies for monitoring and addressing cloud vulnerabilities.
  • Provide enterprise direction for creation and consolidation of integrated cloud services.
  • Support, train, and mentor principal engineers and IT operations partners.
  • Assist with creation and management of cloud-first strategic roadmap.
  • Architect and drive connectivity, automation, and policy solutions to enable hybrid cloud data center in Azure and on-premises.
  • Design and build composable solutions that can be easily operationalized with partner teams.
  • Promote creative, innovative, and engaging work environment; provide technical guidance and mentoring as needed to technical leads across the Practice.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Special Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time. 
  • Project timelines and work volume/deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job.
  • Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.
  • Environment where pets are present.

Experience, Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a relevant field is preferred, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a relevant field is preferred.
  • Seven years of Network Design and Architecture experience are required.
  • At least three years of technical leadership experience are required. Five years of experience are preferred.
  • People leadership experience is preferred.
