Summary and Qualifications:

Lead requirements gathering, design, and build of complex data systems to support the goals and strategies of the Operational Finance function

Lead the Reporting & Analytics team in the breakdown of complex work related to business intelligence, reporting, and analytics and assist the line manager in delegation, tracking, and support of that work to meet timely business needs.

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
  • Serve as a lead resource for complex data challenges and solutions related to business intelligence, reporting, and analytics for the Finance and Operations functions.
  • Guide members of the team in resolving complex technical issues, helping them to break down work into components and execute.
  • Gather and synthesize business requirements and translate into functional requirements, understanding the problem and identifying the data needs, sources, and related complexities.
  • Design and execute on creative and holistic data system solutions leveraging iterative user feedback to best meet business need and enable efficient maintenance.
  • Work closely with Data Warehouse and systems teams to understand our data structure; act as a liaison between teams when designing and modifying data structures. 
  • Organize and scope technical work efforts with an understanding of dependencies on others, timing, and complexity; assist the line manager in related prioritization and resourcing decisions.
  • Present and discuss technical solutions with Finance and Operations leadership as needed.
  • Stay up to date on data technology releases and share relevant information with the team.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Special Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time. 
  • Project timelines and work volume/deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job.
  • Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.
  • Environment where pets are present.

Experience, Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, or related field is required, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Seven years of experience in Business intelligence and analytics solutions are required.
  • Experience as PL/SQL developer and proficiency in data modeling and architecture are required.
  • Extensive knowledge in data visualization and analytical tools including Power BI are required.
