Specialist, Corporate Affairs Programs

Summary and Qualifications:

The Specialist, Corporate Affairs Programs will partner with the Manager of Industry Relations to improve Banfield’s reputation and overall presence within the veterinary industry by showcasing Banfield as a thought leader in veterinary medicine.

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:
  • Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.

  • Support Corporate Affairs team with strategic projects, including managing agency/vendor relationships and CA project budget.

  • Support strategic industry relations projects based on business objectives, including: enhancing a positive brand reputation and encouraging doctor recruiting, retention and engagement.

  • Partner with Manager, Industry Relations on communications as related to the veterinary profession/industry with respective stakeholders, including national associations, industry partners and veterinary colleges.

  • Design industry sponsorships, ensuring mutual partnerships are leveraged internally and externally to further thought leadership and employer of choice aspirations.

  • Manage partnerships with Pride VMC, WVLDI, VBMA, NAVTA and PBA.

  • Support industry events, including Pet Healthcare Industry Summit. Co-create run of show, talking points, communications and onsite assets. Manage attendees list and ancillary events such as HABRI breakfast.

  • Execute Banfield’s national state Veterinary Medical Association (VMA) program and National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) which includes managing partnership logistics, being primary POC for associates, overseeing surveys, updating training toolkits, etc.

  • Support industry conferences, including creation of talking points, run of show, material development, communications and ad hoc value adds that support practice priorities.

  • Collaborate on development of industry facing collateral including review of VET Report, SOPH and any ASK materials.

  • Consult with Campus Outreach team to create engaging content for veterinary students/prospective associates.

  • Serve as industry relations subject matter resource for cross functional working groups and initiatives (i.e. Inclusion & Diversity; Healthy Mind; Student Debt Relief Program; TA initiatives).

  • Develop and facilitate Banfield speaking opportunities within the industry/profession.

  • In partnership with Manager of Industry Relations, develop and execute long-term strategies for Industry Relations and thought leadership initiatives; be a thought partner in both creating strategies as well as executing them.

  • Support the larger Corporate Affairs team through working with external vendors on key projects and monitoring key budget items.

  • Create select social media content for the larger Corporate Affairs team, including LinkedIn posts.

  • Other job duties as assigned.

Special Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time. 

  • Project timelines and work volume / deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job.

  • Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.

  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.

  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.

  • The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.

  • Environment where pets are present.

Experience, Education and/or Training:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing or similar is required or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

  • Three years of Communications, Marketing or similar fields is required.

  • Prior experience within the healthcare profession (either human healthcare or veterinary) is preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written and experience with social media content (LinkedIn) is preferred.

  • Prior experience producing thought leadership content, including development of written content and facilitation of events is preferred.
