Banfield Referral Program Policy

The Banfield Referral Program supports our investment in our Associates by rewarding those who influence veterinary professionals to join our hospital teams and Be here for our clients and their pets.

Active Banfield Associates & Veterinarian Students with Accepted Offer to Join Banfield:

Network, engage, and influence external veterinarian talent to consider opportunities with Banfield. When you have an engaged (open to being contacted by a recruiter) referral, submit their contact information into our Banfield Referral Program Platform and a recruiter will reach out.


During Talent Acquisition’s recruitment process, recruiters gather information from candidates to identify any U.S. or Puerto Rico-based Banfield Associate(s) who were influential in their decision to consider employment opportunities within our practice.

  • If the referring Associate is named during the interview process as an influencing factor to join Banfield, upon hire into an eligible position, the submitting Associate may be eligible for the applicable voluntary referral bonus payout. 
  • If the referring Associate is not named during the interview process as an influencing factor to join Banfield, upon hire into an eligible position, the submitting Associate may be eligible only for the applicable voluntary referral lead payout.
  • If multiple Associates are named during the interview process as an influencing factor to join Banfield, upon hire into an eligible position, the submitting Associates may be eligible for the applicable voluntary referral payout to be split between referring Associates.


Active Banfield Student Ambassadors:

As a Student Ambassador, share your experience and career opportunities with other students and get rewarded for referring new graduate veterinarians who join Banfield in eligible roles. Enter your referral’s contact details in the Banfield Referral Program Platform under “Student Ambassador.”

International Student Ambassadors are eligible to participate in this program if referring a veterinarian candidate to a U.S. or Puerto Rico hospital.

Lead terms and lead awards do not apply to Student Ambassador referral submissions. The referred candidate must name the submitting student ambassador as an influencing factor to join Banfield during the interview process to be considered for the applicable referral payout. 

Payment Rules & Eligibility Details for Eligible Banfield Associates: 

  • Award amounts are subject to change based on location, position, or seasonal promotion. Standard payout amounts are: 
    • Full-Time Veterinarian = $25,000 
    • Part-Time Veterinarian = $12,500
    • Full-Time Veterinarian Lead = $1,000 
    • Part-Time Veterinarian Lead = $500
    • Full-Time Credentialed Veterinary Technician = $10,000 
    • Part-Time Credentialed Veterinary Technician = $5,000
  • Increased referral bonus of $50,000 for a for Full-Time Veterinarian at hospital 5432 Provo Rivers Edge in Utah
  • Awards are paid after Talent Acquisition verifies eligibility 30 days after the new hire’s start date and taxed appropriately. 
  • The submitting party must be an active Banfield Associate at time of payment. 
  • This award program excludes hires into a relief/locum veterinarian or veterinary technician position. However, if you influence a current Banfield locum veterinarian to convert to a Full-Time or Part-Time role, the submission would be eligible.
  • Active Associate referral submissions are eligible for six months from the time of submission to a candidate’s offer acceptance. 
  • Leads are valid for six months from the time of submission to a candidate’s offer acceptance. 

Qualified referrals must be licensed or credentialed to practice in the state where they are hired. 

Payment Rules & Eligibility Details for Active Student Ambassadors: 

  • Qualifying associate veterinarian hires must have the required licensure to practice in their U.S. state or Puerto Rico.
  • Award amounts are subject to change based on location, position, or seasonal promotion. Standard payout amounts are: 
    • Full-Time Veterinarian = $25,000 (if offer is signed to join Banfield post- graduation)
    • Part-Time Veterinarian = $12,500 (if offer is signed to join Banfield post-graduation)
    • Full-Time Veterinarian = $2,500 (if you do not have a signed offer to join Banfield or are terminated at the time of payment)
  • Awards are paid after Talent Acquisition verifies eligibility, 30 days after the new hire’s start date and taxed appropriately. 
  • Student Ambassador referrals are eligible up to the time of graduation. 

Exclusions:

  • Qualifying leads and referrals exclude: 
    • Transfers from other Mars units (including relief/locum, contractor, or student job program roles) 
    • Referral submissions of current full-time and part-time Banfield Associates
    • Referrals sourced while at an event
    • Direct hiring managers and those responsible for hiring decisions of the referred individual
    • Credentialed Veterinary Technicians who are not hired into a hospital-based role (i.e., Virtual care technician, Central Team Support role that requires a VT license, etc.)
    • Talent Acquisition Associates
  • Referral submissions converting current Banfield locum veterinarians to part-time or full-time roles include the following restrictions:
    • Chief of Staff – Not eligible if locum is in your hospital. 
    • Practice Manager/Area Chief of Staff – Not eligible if locum is in any of your hospitals. 
    • Field Director/VPVQ/DVQ – Not eligible if locum is in your market. 
  • Banfield reserves the right and discretion to construe, interpret, modify, and amend or terminate the program at any time.
  • Nothing in this plan is intended to be or should be construed as a contract of employment.

*Newly revised program guidelines effective February 1st, 2024. Referrals submitted prior to the effective date will be held to the same terms and conditions as listed above.
