Culturally Competent Care

    • Demonstrate interest to learn and adapt cross-culturally

  • We define culturally competent care as our ability to provide quality care to every pet regardless of the pet owners’ race, gender, ethnicity, cultural background, English language proficiency or literacy. We view cultural sensitivity as an ongoing learning process to seek out and hone strategies for improving client interactions and pet outcomes.

    Cultural humility denotes an attitude of respect by a veterinary professional toward the culture of clients through a process of self reflection, including the examination of differences and similarities between their personal beliefs, values, and health care goals and those of their clients.
