As a Veterinary Assistant at Banfield Pet Hospital, you will support the veterinary team in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to pets. This role includes assisting veterinarians and credentialed technicians during exams and procedures, ensuring pets and clients feel safe and supported, and maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care & Support

  • Assist veterinarians and technicians in handling, restraining, and caring for pets during exams, treatments, and procedures.
  • Monitor pets before, during, and after surgery or treatment as directed.
  • Provide comfort and compassionate care to hospitalized pets.

• Client Communication

  • Greet and educate clients on proper pet care, preventive health, and post-treatment instructions.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, building trust and supporting positive hospital experiences.

• Hospital Operations

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and stocked hospital environment, including exam rooms, treatment areas, and kennels.
  • Assist with laboratory tests, radiology, and medication preparation under veterinary supervision.
  • Safely handle and clean surgical instruments and medical equipment.

• Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and client service coordinators to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Support hospital flow by assisting where needed, including front desk duties, treatment areas, and patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; veterinary assistant training or experience preferred.
• Passion for animals and commitment to providing exceptional pet care.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to safely handle and restrain pets of all sizes and temperaments.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, medical environment.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds unassisted, and up to 75 pounds assisted.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
• Exposure to animals, cleaning agents, and potential allergens.
