Associate Veterinarian

Multiple Openings for Associate Veterinarians – Medical Management International, Inc. (dba Banfield Pet Hospital) – Orange, CA / Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim, CA metropolitan area. Essential responsibilities include: diagnose, treat and control diseases and injuries in pets; perform surgery on pets; prescribe and administer drugs and vaccines; establish trust and confidence of clients by delivering appropriate preventive care, performing diagnostic workups, developing treatment plans, communicating home care instructions, and planning follow-up visits; advocate for preventive care and wellness plans; assimilate patient medical history, physical exam, and diagnostic workup to arrive at effective clinical decision; lead veterinary hospital team through daily schedule/caseload and delegate tasks; practice veterinary medicine in compliance with State Veterinary Practice Act, Federal and/or State Controlled Substance laws and Banfield Code of Ethics. Deliver highest quality veterinary care and exceptional client experience. Advocate for pets and their quality of life; build long term bonding relationship with clients; contribute to development of human-pet bond; educate clients and hospital associates on pet health; mentor and develop an efficient, collaborative and productive veterinary medical team; and improve medical quality and business performance of hospital. Address and resolve client concerns; work well with hospital team; practice evidence-based medicine and preventive care when data or guidelines exist, use sound judgment when they do not; perform all surgeries with appropriate anesthesia, monitoring and pain management; educate clients, hospital associates and PetSmart associates to improve knowledge of veterinary care and husbandry and other job duties as assigned. Travel: May be asked to cover shifts as needed for Associate Veterinarians on PTO at Banfield hospitals owned and operated by Medical Management International, Inc. (dba Banfield Pet Hospital) located within same MSA/area of intended employment; such coverage involves local travel within MSA. Annual domestic travel for vendor visits and associate education may be required. Minimum Requirements: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (foreign equivalent accepted) and California veterinary license. Client needs and work volume may require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job. This position requires working weekends and evenings. Employer reserves right to conduct background check prior to hire. Salary from $102,000-$170,000 per year, plus production.
